Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: Faithful Friends Animal Society

2020-08-05

Today, our spotlight is on Faithful Friends Animal Society, a private, non-profit animal welfare organization with a no-kill shelter in Delaware, USA. Founded 20 years ago, the organization has saved countless dogs, cats and other animals. Founder and executive director, Ms. Jane Pierantozzi, shared some of their goals and achievements in an exclusive interview with us. “We’ve dramatically reduced the killing. We provide medical care. We also have a foster care system. If there are special needs and they don’t get adopted, they go into foster homes. And we also have ways to help people keep their pets in their homes. We also have a pet lifeline to help give people advice when they’re looking for resources for strays that they found. We have over 400 volunteers working side by side with about 70 employees.” Following a “No Kill” philosophy, the organization believes in treating every animal as an individual with dignity and respect. Hearing of their noble work in helping our precious co-inhabitants, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “thankfully present Faithful Friends Animal Society the Shining World Compassion Award plus a humble contribution of US$15,000 towards this noble society.” On June 12, 2019, our Association members joyfully presented the award and gifts to Ms. Jane Pierantozzi and her team at Faithful Friends Animal Society. “Dear Ms. Pierantozzi, It is with great admiration and gratitude that we present to Faithful Friends Animal Society the ‘Shining World Compassion Award’ for nurturing kindness towards and protecting animals. This Award is presented in recognition of the shelter’s noble advocacy to end euthanasia, its commitment to shelter and lovingly care for animals. Your exemplary efforts herald a new era of empathy and harmonious co-existence with our precious animal friends.” Ms. Jane shared with us these final thoughts before we parted ways. “I just want to thank You again, the Supreme Master and Your organization for Your love of animals and for Your gracious award today and the grant award that will help us with our mission to care for the animals. Also we’d just encourage other animal shelters across the world that care for dogs and cats to also open their heart to care for all animals and to embrace the plant-based diet, which we are promoting here.”
