James Mason - A True Animal Lover

By Surrey News Group, UK (Originally in English) 2008.05.20

James Mason is a 16-year-old boy who has taken care of abandoned animals since he was nine. In his small yard, he manages to look after about 200 animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, roosters and a duck. To give them enough care and attention every day, James has to get up at 5am before school and stays up till 9 or 10pm. After learning about his deeds, James' teacher helped to bring to the public eye all the dedication, love and kindness he has shown toward these helpless animals and since then, Channel 5, the BBC and Central TV in the UK have told his story. People have sent many letters wishing James all the best and some accompanied by small donations to help him cope with the costs.

In May Golden Year 5 (2008), our Association members went to Coalville in the Midlands to present the Shining World Compassion Award plus US$5,000 to James on behalf of Supreme Master Ching Hai. James expressed his deepest gratitude and later told them that he wishes to have some land and look after animals when he grows up. His parents are very proud of him. The Association members felt honored to be able to bring Master's love and blessings to such a compassionate and dedicated animal lover as James.
