Norway Gives Unconditionally to Kenya

On April 21, Golden Year 5 (2008), members of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association met with Ms. Elizabeth Jacobsen, the Ambassador of Norway based in Nairobi, Kenya, to present the Shining World Leadership Award to her and the Norwegian government. The prestigious award was given to Norway for its outstanding selfless service with regards to humanitarian aid provided to Kenya last year after the period of unrest when many people were displaced.

Ms. Jacobsen said: "Norway has been very concerned about the post election violence in Kenya that took place towards the end of last year and beginning of 2008. And we also felt very sad about the situation for the internally displaced people in the many camps, particularly in the Rift Valley." During this time of unrest, the Norwegian government offered great financial assistance to the Kenyan people, which has been a great source of hope and encouragement for them.

Ms. Jacobsen was joyfully surprised, and thankfully accepted the award as well as some of Master's books - The Noble Wilds, God Takes Care of Everything, and DVD's presented to her. We thank Norway for its inspiring example of love, compassion and generosity to the less fortune in our world.
