Hero Dog George - A Noble Example of Sacrifice

By Auckland News Group, New Zealand (Originally in English) 2008.02.22

Recently, initiates from Auckland and Taranaki presented a Shining Hero Award to Alan, the owner of the hero dog George, a 13-inch-high Jack Russell Terrier. George gave his life when saving his neighbor children from two pit bulls that threatened them while on a walk in Manaia, New Zealand. Even though George would have been aware he did not stand much of a chance, he went up against the two big dogs twice his size to protect the children. The brave and selfless George passed away from irrecoverable injuries he received on the night of the attack.

Alan was very touched by the presentation and the gifts from Master and wished that George was present to see the plaque. He looked at the beautiful photographs in Master's books in awe and commented that they are the most beautiful books he has ever seen. Alan said he would share the books with his neighbor children, so they could see how much George has been recognized for his noble sacrifice.

We are most grateful and respect your noble sacrifice, hero dog, George. May you rest in eternal light and love in heaven.
