Ms. Amy Lambert - A Young Heart Big Enough to Accommodate Many
In a foreign land thousands of kilometers from her native country, a young woman made a decision that will forever change her life and that of 150 children, and inspire numerous other people around the world.
After having spent eight weeks volunteering at a home for children, Ms. Amy Lambert, a 24-year old student at Bath Spa University, felt that she needed to do more to help. She said, “These children are the most beautiful, selfless people I have ever met.” Amy decided to acquire the Kilimanjaro Children's Joy Foundation Orphanage in Tanzania and to replace it with a bigger one that includes modern solar panels and classrooms. She planned to move to Kichijo and coordinate the operation of the home after completing her studies in July 2009. Despite the busy study schedule in their final school year, Amy and her friends raised over £30,000 for the project in just seven months through organizing activities such as face painting, auctions, concerts and club nights.
Learning of the noble mission of this young lady, Supreme Master Ching Hai honored Amy with the Shining World Compassion Award and a contribution of US$30,000 (£18,360) towards the building of the new orphanage. The gifts were presented to Amy by our Association members on July 21, Golden Year 6 (2009), together with Master’s publications. Sending Her best wishes, Master wrote, “Heaven’s grace is surely blessing each step of your journey and we wish you every joy and success as you follow this loving dream to fruition. Thank you for uplifting our world with your magnificent example of love in action!”
In response to the generous contribution and encouragement from Master, Amy said gratefully, “Thank you Supreme Master Ching Hai. That money will make such a difference to the lives of all of those children I look after, and you will feed them all, send them all to school, build them a home and just change their lives for the better. So thank you, thank you so much.”
Bravo, Ms. Amy Lambert! May God bless your devotion to the gentle youngsters and may all the children enjoy abundance of love and happiness at the Kichijo Orphanage in Tanzania.
