Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced a donation of US$900 million towards eliminating tuberculosis.

With the assistance of resources donated by people through the Internet, Mr. Jin Dan of Inner Mongolia has been able to provide loving shelter for over 1,000 previously stray dogs.

 United Nations World Food Program
The United Nations World Food Program purchased from and donated to Afghanistan 4,000 metric tons of wheat, thus feeding many people and bringing US$1.1 million to the country’s economy.
 
 Hong Kong
Hong Kong donated US$154,000 for flood victims in Nepal.
 
 European Commission
The European Commission provided €5 million in humanitarian assistance for the displaced people from Ethiopia.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon donated his own award money in the amount of US$100,000 to the United Nations Human Settlements Program.

The Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund, a Formosan charity, and the Aulacese Phú Mỹ Hưng Joint Venture Company have provided scholarships totaling US$31,500 to needy and disabled Aulacese (Vietnamese) students who have excelled in school.

Germany has contributed US$28 million to India for a six-year project to alleviate poverty through natural resources management.

South Korea and the United Nations announced emergency aid funds of US$46 million and US$2 million respectively, for flood victims in North Korea.

Fazle Hasan Abed of Bangladesh received the Clinton Global Citizenship Award for setting up an organization to help over 100 million rural people in areas such as improving their income, education and health care.

 United Kingdom
UK gave €2 million in aid for Chad refugees through the World Food Program.
 
 Norway
Norway sent relief funds of 8 million Krone (US$1.48 million) for flood victims in Nicaragua, Jamaica, Belize, St. Lucia, Dominica and Haiti after Hurricane Dean.
 
 European Union
Following the Greece forest fires, the European Union donated US$240 million for rebuilding, with an additional US$546 million available if needed. 
 
 Farzana of India
Farzana, a 15-year-old girl in India, risked her own life to save five other people from drowning when she saw their boat overturn in a nearby river.

Japan provided US$2 million to the United Nations Refugee Agency to continue to help ease conditions for the Nepalese refugees.

The Asian Development Bank donated US$1 million in aid to improve health care for needy children in Âu Lạc (Vietnam), including distribution of vitamins and medicines.

Following forest fires in Greece, Bayer Cares Foundation donated US$200,000 in emergency aid for the reconstruction of a health center and school.

Ireland approved €1 million to fund emergency flood relief for 7,000 families in Uganda and 18,000 in Ghana.

The United States approved a US$3.7 million donation in development aid to the Philippine region of Mindanao, bringing the total over the next five years to US$194 million.
