Dr. Lorna Stuart - A Loving Gift of Healthcare Provided for the Uninsured

Six years ago, with the intention to offer better care to her patients who are not covered in the current health care system, Dr. Lorna Stuart left her private medical practice, sold her house, raised other funds, and established “The Clinic: Medical Center for the Uninsured.” Today, the quality medical care provided by Dr. Stuart and 20 other physicians, along with many willing volunteers, is able to reach over 800 patients per month. Twenty percent of The Clinic’s income is from patients who pay what they can afford.
Realizing that animal fats are the leading source of cholesterol and a totally unnecessary food, The Clinic encourages patients to incorporate more healthy fruits and vegetables with grains in their diet. What makes The Clinic so unique is its loving atmosphere, which attracts many volunteers, both professional and non-professional. The mission of the Clinic is to provide quality health care to the uninsured, in an atmosphere which fosters dignity and respect for the patients.
Touched to learn of the selfless acts of Dr. Lorna Stuart, Supreme Master Ching Hai honored her with the Shining World Compassion Award, accompanied by a US$10,000 contribution to further her noble work. The Award ceremony took place at Dr. Lorna Stuart’s Clinic office in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania , USA on July 10, Golden Year 5 (2008). Regarding the Award and Master’s financial support, Dr. Stuart said, “… with Her gift we’ll be able to continue to help those people. And so I, with all my volunteers and staff, are extraordinarily grateful. Thank you very much.”
God bless the noble work of Dr. Lorna Stuart and her fellow volunteer staff for their compassionate care of patients at The Clinic.
