Max, the Police Search Dog

During Golden Year 5 (2008), when the Dartmoor Rescue Group was notified that 79-year-old Margaret Haverson from Newton Saint Cyres, United Kingdom, had been missing for two days in the cold, they immediately went to that location with search dog Max. Within two hours, this incredible animal found Mrs. Haverson in a forested area near her small town. Her body was cold and damp but she was conscious at that time, and later recovered in hospital. To recognize his extraordinary acute senses, attentiveness, loyalty to humanity and caring spirit of friendship, Supreme Master Ching Hai honored Max with the Shining World Hero Award, and a gift of US$200.

Max, we wish you a life filled with long walks, health and joy. Thank you for your special contribution to humanity.  May we continue to be blessed with such loving, devoted and wonderfully talented animal friends.
